Job Responsibilities

As a Food Service Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, timely, and consistent food production to meet menu and customer standards. Key duties include:

  • Producing all food items according to high standards of quality, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Developing rapport with customers while upholding Thomas Cuisine's values and mission.
  • Setting up and stocking the sandwich/sliced station with all necessary supplies.
  • Properly handling, storing, and rotating all products in the station or walk-in cooler.
  • Cooking menu items in cooperation with other kitchen staff.
  • Following proper cooking techniques and presentation standards for all dishes.
  • Adhering to all food handling and storage procedures as outlined by company and state regulations.
  • Maintaining a positive, respectful, and professional demeanor with customers and colleagues.
  • Reporting unsafe working conditions, operational needs, and equipment malfunctions to management.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age (specific state requirements may apply).
  • Possess strong teamwork skills.
  • Be able to provide documentation for work authorization.
  • Have a valid ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card (state specific).
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.
  • Be able to work holidays and weekend shifts.

Physical Requirements

This position requires extensive standing and walking during meal preparation and service, as well as lifting boxes up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling food hot boxes up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and using manual dexterity for kitchen tasks. Visual acuity for reading menus and labels, hearing ability for communication, and the ability to distinguish colors are also necessary. Exposure to varying temperatures and the ability to assess food quality are essential.

Location & Schedule

This position is located at our Lakeshore location: 3800 Ridgeway Drive, Birmingham, AL. The schedule is Monday-Sunday with open availability, including some required weekend shifts.
