Line Cook (AM Shift) - 106 Jefferson Hotel

The 106 Jefferson Hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton, is a unique hotel in Huntsville's Twickenham district, situated on the site of a former hotel. This establishment offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, flexible event spaces, a popular Revivalist restaurant with a private dining room and terrace, a stunning rooftop lounge with panoramic views, and 115 deluxe guestrooms, including 12 luxury suites. We are seeking a passionate and creative Line Cook to join our team!

About the Role

As a Line Cook (AM Shift), you will be responsible for preparing delicious and high-quality meals for our guests and hotel clientele. This role requires a strong understanding of food preparation techniques and a commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing food items according to recipe cards, production requirements, and quality standards.
  • Starting food items that are prepared ahead of time, ensuring adequate quantities are prepared.
  • Handling multiple orders simultaneously, assembling orders accurately.
  • Working all kitchen stations (broiler, sauté, fry, pantry, and expediter).
  • Dating and rotating food containers, ensuring proper temperature maintenance for all perishables.
  • Checking pars, determining necessary preparation, and setting up the kitchen line.
  • Notifying management of out-of-stock items or potential shortages.
  • Assisting with buffet stocking.
  • Returning unused food items to designated storage areas, properly covering/dating perishables.
  • Assisting in developing plans to control food waste, loss, and usage.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a food/beverage service environment. A culinary certificate or degree is preferred. You should have strong knowledge of industrial-sized ovens and cooking ranges, proficiency in preparing various cuisines, relishes, soups, and salads, and a thorough understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills. Familiarity with safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures is essential. You must also have good manual coordination, the ability to lift, push, and carry items weighing 20-40 pounds, and the ability to stand for extended periods. Strong communication skills in English are a must.
