Responsibilities

• Preparing all food according to the menu, in a safe and sanitary manner, under the direction of the food services director.
• Ensuring proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food according to standardized recipes.
• Preparing quality food products using standardized recipes and menus.
• Adhering to all safety and sanitation standards.
• Preparing food in a timely manner at specified meal times.
• Responding to community issues or concerns in the dining room.
• Following departmental procedures for sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
• Following proper cleaning procedures and storage of dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Ensuring all food in the refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage is labeled and dated.
• Overseeing proper food handling and utilization to prevent contamination, increase quality, and reduce cost.
• Suggesting menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers and other supplies.
• Cleansing all food service equipment, kitchen, and food storage areas.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cook.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Skilled in preparing meals according to instructions.
• Proficiency in operating cookware, bakeware, and cooking appliances.
• Friendly demeanor and strong communication skills.
• Good physical condition and stamina.
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in food services is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
