Cook Position

As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive delicious and nutritious meals while upholding the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. You will be responsible for preparing meals in a fast-paced and friendly environment, while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor. You will be an essential part of our thriving culinary team. A $1000 bonus is available for new Cooks, payable after 90 and 180 days of employment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare all food according to the menu, following safety and sanitation guidelines under the direction of the food services director.
• Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food according to standardized recipes.
• Prepare quality food products according to standardized recipes and menus.
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards.
• Prepare food in a timely manner at specified meal times.
• Respond to community issues or concerns that may arise in the dining room.
• Follow departmental procedures, including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
• Follow proper cleaning procedures and storage of dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Ensure all food in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage are properly labeled and dated.
• Oversee proper food handling to prevent contamination, increase quality, and reduce costs.
• Suggest menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers and other supplies effectively.
• Clean all food service equipment, kitchen, and food storage areas.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Cook.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Skilled in preparing meals according to instructions.
• Proficient in operating cookware, bakeware, and cooking appliances.
• Friendly and possessing excellent communication skills.
• Good physical condition and stamina.
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in food services is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
