Job Description

The cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals and maintaining kitchen operations to meet all specified guidelines of the AAA program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:

  • Posts Dietician approved menus, prepares and serves meals according to menus.
  • Adheres to prescribed diets and medical food needs of participants.
  • Assures all meals are packaged according to guidelines for both Home Delivered Meal programs and Congregate meals.
  • Assures food is stored properly according to guidelines.
  • Assures necessary foods are ordered in a timely manner to ensure menus can be followed.
  • Assures kitchen and storage area are kept clean and organized.
  • Performs and/or supervises clean-up of food service area and equipment.
  • Directs sanitation assignments to ensure equipment is maintained at high levels in accordance with Health Department requirements.
  • Continually evaluates to ensure food meets AAA guidelines for hot and frozen meal temperatures.
  • Attends all required training.
  • Responsible for daily Raw Food sheets.
  • Assists Site Coordinator with all hiring and training of Kitchen Staff.
  • Participates in quarterly Food Committee meetings.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc., Senior Center programs, and clients. Conditions of confidentiality shall be in compliance with Friendship Community Care Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies.
