Kitchen Supervisor - Substance Use Disorder Treatment Facility

Gaudenzia, a leading nonprofit provider of treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kitchen Supervisor to join our team in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. As a Kitchen Supervisor, you will be responsible for the daily operation of a busy kitchen serving a facility with 30 or more clients. You will ensure the preparation and distribution of nutritious and well-balanced meals, while maintaining adherence to all relevant health and safety regulations and established policies and procedures. A strong commitment to client care, coupled with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, is essential.

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of meals for a large client population, adhering to established menus and nutritional guidelines.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate ordering, inventory, and proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Monitor food costs to maintain budget constraints through responsible food preparation and storage practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment that complies with all state and local health department regulations.
  • Supervise clients engaged in kitchen tasks, ensuring safety and adherence to established procedures.
  • Assist in compiling reports and managing billing for kitchen functions for regional and corporate offices.
  • Attend operational meetings to discuss kitchen needs and client-specific issues.
  • Meet with the supervisor weekly to discuss ongoing kitchen operations and identify any issues or needs.
  • Maintain accurate records related to the School Lunch Program and other relevant accreditation programs.
  • Maintain and/or obtain current ServSafe Food Handler and/or Manager certification.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities with excellence. This position also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, staff, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid ServSafe certification
  • At least one year of experience in food preparation
  • Knowledge of food preparation, dietary needs, and menu planning to meet specific dietary needs and the client population being served.
  • Ability to produce large volumes of meals daily.
  • Knowledge of food cost control.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination free of communicable disease.
