Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Assists in oversight of daily operations, ensures quality food production and presentation to meet the standards as established by and under the guidance of department leadership. Supervises a team of cooks and kitchen personnel. Performs the duties of leadership in the absence of their direct supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures production and service of quality, consistent menu items that adhere to all culinary standards as set by University Dining, as directed by department leaders.
  • Supervises and oversees assigned kitchen personnel with responsibility to support performance management, training, and scheduling.
  • Supports training and managing of kitchen personnel.
  • Aids in oversight of daily food production and meal service.
  • Assists in production forecasting and tracking.
  • Ensures compliance with sanitation and safety requirements, ensures labeling requirements are met and compliance with allergen containment procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Supports all efforts to ensure the operation is managed to budget, to include food (COGS) and labor costs and operating expenses.
  • Responsible for assisting with weekly inventory counts.
  • Coordinates and manages special projects, which include special promotions and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Participates in back of house (BOH) management team meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of related work experience to include at least one year of supervisory or management experience.
  • Valid Food Service Sanitation Manager / ServSafe Certification within ninety days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical training in commercial food service preferred.
  • An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a culinary arts or related field.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume food service operation.
  • Experience in higher education campus dining.

  • Trained in the principles of food preparation and storage, health hazards, and necessary precautionary measures.
  • In full command of principles of food sanitation and regulations.
  • Complete understanding of safe temperatures for serving food and storage of refrigerated and frozen raw and cooked foods.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite).
  • Skilled culinary professional.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette.
