Job Description

Our Passion is Food!

At Bon Appetit Management Company we are committed to two things, great food and outstanding service! At Bon Appetit you won't find our managers referring to a corporate recipe book or our chefs microwaving the lunch special. We do not have standardized recipes or central commissaries; instead, our chefs and managers are expected to stay abreast of current culinary trends and bring cutting edge food into their cafes. We are a restaurant company that operates in contract food service. That means you will have the freedom to be creative, take risks, and truly shine. We are committed to our staff growing, trying new things, and learning all that they can. Our rapid growth and breadth of accounts translates into exciting opportunities for our people!

As a Senior Catering Sous Chef, your role is crucial in managing kitchen operations, supervising food preparation, and assisting in menu creation, particularly for high-volume catering events. You will work directly under the Executive Chef, helping to drive culinary innovation and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to manage costs and oversee kitchen expenditures.
  • Participate in crafting and updating menus, ensuring alignment with client preferences and seasonal availability.
  • Execute and maintain high standards during catering events, from preparation to presentation.
  • Coordinate with the Catering team to design and execute menus that meet client specifications for events.
  • Implement new culinary programs in coordination with the marketing and culinary teams.
  • Ensure timely ordering and availability of ingredients and supplies, coordinating with the Catering Manager for event-specific needs.
  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes, maintaining consistency and quality across all offerings.
  • Manage and train kitchen staff on safety protocols and culinary techniques, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.O.S. degree in Culinary Arts or a culinary certificate with extensive relevant experience.
  • Progressive experience in culinary or kitchen management, with a strong background in catering and high-volume operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to enhancing patient or client satisfaction through exceptional food service and engagement in satisfaction programs and activities.
