Cook (Full-Time)
Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus is seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our vibrant Food Services team. - Position Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm. This schedule may be adjusted based on program needs and events.

Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of a variety of food items. This role includes training and supervising a Cook IV, overseeing student helpers and volunteers, and supporting inventory control procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assisting in meal preparation and kitchen cleanup.
- Preparing fruits, vegetables, salad dressings, condiments, and related items for all meals.
- Maintaining and preparing fruit/salad/sandwich bars and coffee stations.
- Portioning breads, rolls, and desserts.
- Preparing and cooking hot vegetables, starches, soups, and vegetarian options.
- Adhering to strict food safety and sanitation procedures, including storage, handling of raw and leftover food, sanitizing equipment and utensils, and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Assisting with daily ordering of fruits, vegetables, and related items from vendors.
- Training and supervising the Cook IV and student helpers.
- Assisting with the preparation of special function takeout meals, including distribution and return of equipment.
- Maintaining inventory of pantry equipment and supplies.
- Coordinating and assisting with all other pantry-related tasks.
- Notifying the Sous Chef of any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Assisting with setup, servicing, and breakdown for special dining events.
- Performing primary duties in the absence of the Cook II.
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain the National Food Safety and Sanitation Certification within the first two weeks of employment.
- Good computer knowledge and basic math skills for inventory and ordering.
- Strong interpersonal skills for staff and management interactions.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, writing, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 300 pounds.
- Occasional twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
Working Conditions:
- Work in close proximity to hot equipment in humid conditions.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for special events.
