Job Description

You enjoy providing outstanding service and producing high-quality nutrition. The Cook’s role is preparing and serving attractive and tasty meals for the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals and snacks that are appealing and tasty and served at the right temperature per the menu and schedule.
  • Prepare special limited diets per policy and physician orders.
  • Identify menu errors and make appropriate corrections as needed, bringing the necessary changes to the Culinary Director’s / Executive Chef’s attention.
  • Properly store, date, and rotate food per food handling guidelines.
  • Follow kitchen cleaning schedule.
  • Relate to residents in a courteous, empathetic, and cooperative manner.
  • Keep environment safe and clean.
  • Perform as a Culinary Aid or Dishwasher in addition to their duties as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be an honest and dependable individual.
  • Must maintain proper hygiene.
  • Must be professional in dress and presentation.
  • Must be willing to be active during entire work shift.
  • Must be a mature individual.
  • Must attend required in-services/workshops to further education of skills and community requirements.
  • Must be drug-free and submit to urinalysis drug screening upon hire and routinely.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire and as required by state regulations.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Special Demands:

  • Must possess qualities of leadership, tact, and adaptability to change.
  • Must uphold community dress policy and possess a pleasant personality.
  • Must be capable of following oral and written instruction.
  • Must display and use own good judgment and initiative in daily duties.

  • Detail and teamwork oriented.
  • Must have passed an approved food handler’s or ServSafe course.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certificate.
