Job Description

We are looking for a culinary management professional to oversee the daily kitchen operations at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk. This role is responsible for ensuring the overall success of kitchen operations by leading the culinary team and managing all food-related functions.

The successful candidate will be accountable for improving guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing financial performance across all areas of responsibility. This includes supervising all kitchen areas to ensure high-quality products are produced and managing the development of staff including direct reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading kitchen management team and providing direction for day-to-day operations.
  • Understanding employee positions well enough to perform duties in their absence.
  • Providing guidance and setting performance standards for subordinates.
  • Encouraging mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Reviewing staffing levels to ensure guest service and operational needs are met.
  • Developing and implementing guidelines for purchasing and receiving.
  • Ensuring compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Managing department controllable expenses and participating in budgeting processes.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and addressing guest feedback.
  • Coaching and mentoring kitchen associates to improve their skills.

The salary range for this position is $157,000 to $204,000 annually. Marriott offers a bonus program and various benefits, including health care, 401(k) plans, and paid time off.

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
  • Leadership skills to manage kitchen operations and staff.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement guidelines and control procedures.
  • Experience in menu development and food presentation.
  • Capability to handle customer service and guest relations.
