As a cook at Childers Eatery, you will be responsible for cooking meats, eggs, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products, as well as preparing and portioning food products prior to cooking. Your duties will also include:

• Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining food preparation areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
• Regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.
• Ensuring the freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality and rotating stock.
• Complying with the restaurant's standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules.
• Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food products at line stations.
• Seasoning and cooking food according to recipes or personal judgment.
• Portioning, arranging, and garnishing food according to standard portion sizes.
• Observing and testing foods to ensure they have been cooked sufficiently.
• Assisting in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
• Filling in for fellow employees to ensure guest service standards.

You will also be required to attend scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement, coordinating with fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support restaurant operations.

• Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
• At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
• Able to communicate effectively with managers and kitchen personnel.
• Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
• Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
