Job Description

As a Cook at Perkins, you will be responsible for preparing menu items according to company standards. Your primary focus will be maximizing guest satisfaction and maintaining a positive work environment by following the instructions of the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to work in a clean, professional uniform, adhering to all personal hygiene standards.
  • Using, maintaining, and cleaning all kitchen equipment and preparation areas.
  • Effectively stocking and rotating products on the cooking line.
  • Demonstrating sufficient knowledge of cooking stations, menu items, and preparation procedures to ensure accurate portioning, quality, and timely cooking.
  • Preparing menu items according to guest requests and company standards, following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Monitoring and controlling food temperatures to prevent foodborne illnesses.
  • Anticipating, identifying, and resolving system issues to maximize guest satisfaction.
  • Communicating effectively with the Manager on Duty and coworkers regarding any product/service deficiencies, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess basic skills in sanitation, safety, and customer service. Strong communication skills are essential, and in-house training will further develop these abilities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires a high level of mobility, flexibility, and coordination. You must be able to work irregular hours, including peak times, under potential stress and pressure. You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet and fit through a 30" wide opening. The role involves frequent reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing/walking. You will be exposed to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and various odors.
