The Cook prepares and serves quality meals for patients in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Essential Functions include:

• Preparing and serving meals that are appetizing in both taste and appearance, and appropriate for each patient.
• Knowledgeable of ordered diets as well as food consistency.
• Ensuring food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
• Serving meals and snacks in a timely manner.
• Utilizing production tools and recipes provided to prepare meals and snacks.
• Exhibiting excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assisting in the evacuation of patients.
• Demonstrating dependable, regular attendance.
• Concentrating and using reasoning skills and good judgment.
• Communicating and functioning productively on an interdisciplinary team.
• Reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.

Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc. Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information, and understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures. Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience in food preparation preferred.
• Knowledgeable of practices and procedures in food preparation.
• Ability to prepare and cook food in large quantities.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
