Position Summary: Prepare food to provide nutrition and variety to residents.

Essential Job Requirements:

• Prepare food daily, as outlined on the weekly menu plan.
• Coordinate and participate in serving food.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery.
• Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
• Notify manager of malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, And Other Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with commercial cooking or domestic cooking with large groups.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:

• Practice safety in working with and around kitchen equipment.
• Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
• State food-handling and kitchen regulations.
• Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.) and office equipment (photocopier, telephone).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certificate in food-preparation training is preferred.
• Experience in supervision is preferred.
• Willingness to learn and help others.
• Enjoyment in working with older adults.

• Experience with commercial cooking or domestic cooking with large groups preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Capable of reading, speaking, and understanding the English language.
