Cook - High-Volume Food Service

At PENN Entertainment, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. You'll be responsible for providing fast, friendly, and professional service to culinary team members and buffet/restaurant guests.

  • Greet and welcome guests approaching your station.
  • Maintain accurate information regarding food items, including preparation techniques, seasonings, and ingredients.
  • Prepare food items per guest order, including breakfast, entrees, and desserts.
  • Employ proper cooking methods, cook to specifications, and handle, store, and rotate food according to health and safety standards.
  • Slice, dice, chop, and prepare raw products.
  • Carve meats, portion food, add gravies and sauces, and garnish plates.
  • Wipe counter areas, sinks, and floors to maintain a clean and safe work station.
  • Maintain cleanliness of designated areas according to established health and safety standards.
  • Maintain par levels of operating supplies and food products, obtaining replacements from warehouse inventory.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment and utensils according to guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Provide personalized service, using guests' names whenever possible.
  • Promote current casino events and programs, and provide directions to casino areas.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of prior experience as a cook in a high-volume food service operation.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, weights, measures, and recipe yield.
  • Possess and maintain culinary tools (knives).
  • Read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Availability to work required schedule, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Meet professional appearance standards.
  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to respond to visual and oral cues.
  • Ability to work in constricting areas.
  • Ability to tolerate high temperatures and industry-standard cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environments.
  • Maintain a neat, professional, well-groomed appearance and uphold company dress standards.
  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations, including the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance.

Starting Salary: $17.00
