As a Sushi Chef I, you will be an entry-level position that allows you to develop your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about sushi and eager to advance their culinary career. You'll learn critical knife skills, sushi rolling techniques, and essential food safety protocols.

  • Preparing traditional Japanese sushi rice
  • Chopping, slicing, and filleting various fish
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Ensuring all ingredients meet the highest quality standards
  • Working effectively under pressure and maintaining restaurant quality standards during peak hours
  • Inspecting the quality of ingredients and reporting any issues to the STL (Senior Team Leader)
  • Preparing sushi dishes according to established guidelines for quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
  • Maintaining a clean work environment to prevent food contamination
  • Reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty
  • Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment
  • Greeting and communicating with customers to ensure a positive experience

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months experience in the food service industry; sushi rolling experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and understand customer needs
  • Valid food handler's license and sound knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment
