Job Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Cook for The Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant, Ellicott City, MD community who can work flexible shifts. The Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant (LVMG) Cooks will work as an integral part of our Dining Services team, that delivers a warm, welcoming, and friendly approach to quality care and hospitality support for our older adult residents.

Job Duties:

  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving menu items.
  • Taste products, read menus, and estimate food requirements.
  • Maintain food production, keep records to ensure accurate plan production requirement, requisition supplies, and equipment.
  • May be assigned to work in a venue which will require preparation and cooking food to order, including the ability to read the order and or prepare and cook food according to instructions.

Hourly wage will be based on candidate qualifications including relevant years of experience and certifications/education.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years culinary experience in a restaurant or a hotel.
  • Must be able to take verbal instructions on food required by the senior resident patrons.
  • Previous experience working in a Continued Care Retirement Community (CCRC) a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift.
