Job Description

Hours Available: Afternoon/Evening cook shifts: 11:30-8pm.

To join this team, please have the following requirements:

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Prior work experience with food preparation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation/Production Responsibilities:

  • Reviews menus, production, and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.
  • Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste.
  • Uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.
  • Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table, and tilt skillet.
  • Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare for use.
  • Follows recipes.
  • Prepares and assists with special function meals.
  • Completes work assignments.

Meal Service Responsibilities:

  • Food Safety.
