Job Description

Be part of the Saint Therese difference! We are seeking an experienced Cook for a casual schedule opportunity to serve seniors with compassionate, supportive care at one of Minnesota's leading nonprofit senior housing and service providers. This role will fill in for site needs to coverage vacations and staff leaves.

Hours of position could be 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., some weekends would be included. Ideal candidates would have flexibility to cover both shift times.

We offer 216 independent, assisted living and memory care apartments; 56 skilled and transitional care suites. The Redwoods Senior Apartments joined the campus in late 2017.

The Cook position is responsible for creating high-quality meals for our residents, ensuring that all food is crafted to meet established state and local food codes, regulations, and best practices. This role involves meticulous attention to detail in meal preparation to maintain the highest standards of nutrition and safety.

Job duties encompass a range of responsibilities including cooking and baking, as well as cleaning equipment and maintaining operations. You will prepare both hot and cold meals for residents, manage food service for the coffee shop and special events, and carry out general cleaning tasks to ensure a well-organized kitchen environment.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year cooking experience.
  • Background in preparing and cooking meals in a restaurant, event catering, school, or healthcare/senior services setting.

  • Able to communicate effectively through oral and written skills.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others.
  • Able to lead and delegate.
  • Able to calmly and effectively handle challenging situations.
