Job Description

Cook/Back of House Representative

A Cook directly supports all Zaxby's managers and team members, embodying the Zaxby's mission statement, core values, and company culture. The Cook ensures an excellent guest experience through the preparation of high-quality food, maintaining the highest standards of safe food preparation and service, all while working efficiently and maintaining a positive attitude within a team environment. A strong focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and clear understanding of priorities is essential.

  • Sets up and closes the kitchen for smooth operational transitions between shifts.
  • Prepares all items on the kitchen prep list, following Zaxby's training procedures to ensure a fully stocked kitchen.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of every kitchen station and adheres to all Zaxby's cooking procedures to guarantee safe and high-quality food service.
  • Works efficiently at the center of food production, ensuring high-quality food, fast service, and proper presentation.
  • Follows FIFO inventory procedures, properly labels prepared food items, and knows the location of all kitchen items.
  • Ensures necessary kitchen utensils and equipment are correctly positioned for all team members.
  • Completes daily BOH maintenance procedures and assists with weekly and monthly maintenance.
  • Maintains a clean work station and assists other team members as needed.
  • Completes the BOH checklist for the assigned workstation and assists other BOH team members.
  • Washes dishes to prepare the kitchen for the next shift.
  • Disposes of trash and boxes properly, and cleans the dumpster area when necessary.

The Cook demonstrates safe handling of all hazardous chemicals used in the BOH area and correctly uses and maintains kitchen equipment (fryers, grills, hot holding bins, etc.). Safe food preparation equipment usage is also critical, including knives, peelers, lettuce choppers, and other potentially hazardous objects.

  • Exhibits honesty and integrity, aligning with Zaxby's mission, core values, and company culture to encourage personal and team growth.
  • Adapts to a fast-paced environment and actively participates in a team-based work environment.
  • Effectively interacts with 4-8 team members to foster a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to listen, learn, and practice correct BOH procedures.
  • Maintains punctuality, reliability, and reliable transportation for scheduled shifts.
  • Understands Zaxby's safety policies and procedures, including MSDS information.
  • Is able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
