Cook/Back of House Representative

  • Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Sets up and closes the kitchen for efficient shift transitions.
  • Prepares all food items on the prep list according to Zaxby's procedures, ensuring adequate stock for each shift.
  • Proficiently operates all kitchen stations and follows all Zaxby's cooking procedures to maintain food quality and safety standards.
  • Works diligently at the center of food production to ensure high-quality, fast, and correctly presented food and exceptional customer service.
  • Adheres to FIFO inventory procedures, properly labels prepared food, and knows the location of all kitchen items.
  • Ensures that necessary utensils and equipment are properly positioned for all team members throughout the shift.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly BOH maintenance procedures and assists with other maintenance tasks.
  • Maintains a clean workstation and assists other team members as needed.
  • Completes the BOH checklist for the assigned workstation and assists other BOH team members.
  • Washes dishes to ensure the next shift can begin efficiently.
  • Disposes of trash and boxes appropriately, and cleans the dumpster area when necessary.
  • Equipment Knowledge and Use:
  • Understands safe handling and storage of all hazardous cleaning chemicals used in the BOH area.
  • Knows the proper and safe procedures for operating and maintaining kitchen equipment (fryers, grills, hot holding bins, etc.).
  • Safely utilizes all food preparation equipment, including knives, peelers, lettuce choppers, tomato and lemon slicers, and other potentially hazardous tools.
  • Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and a clear commitment to Zaxby's mission statement, core values, and company culture.
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Effectively interacts with 4-8 team members.
  • Is willing to listen, learn, and consistently practice correct BOH procedures.
  • Is punctual, dependable, has reliable transportation, and understands Zaxby's safety policies and procedures, including MSDS information.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
