Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Stocks food preparation stations and completes pre-opening tasks.
- Adheres to all safety and sanitation regulations.
- Maintains positive working relationships with food & beverage and hotel staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of food safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and Department of Labor guidelines.
- Reports maintenance and repair needs to supervisor.
- Complies with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen policies and procedures.
- Maintains sufficient food product levels at designated stations to support smooth service.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary workspace, including equipment (tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, refrigeration equipment, etc.).
- Provides high-quality food presentation and service to guests in a timely manner.
- Effectively multi-tasks under pressure.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of departmental operations, including events and hours of operation.
- Able to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Handles large and small events with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
- Cleans kitchen and equipment and completes pre-closing procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to execute emergency procedures.
- Follows established set-up procedures.
- Reports any issues to the manager immediately.
- Ensures proper storage, labeling, dating, and rotation of food items to prevent health and safety hazards and potential spoilage/waste.
- Attends monthly department meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Contributes to a positive work environment and hotel success.
- Completes any other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- POS experience (Micros, Squirrel, etc.) preferred
- Food safety certification preferred
- Culinary training or apprenticeship certification highly valued
