A new Hilton Garden Inn hotel opening in December 2019 is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Restaurant/Banquet Cook. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team in a dynamic environment.
- Prepare the kitchen for the arrival of chefs, including thorough cleaning and organization.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness before, during, and after service, adhering to strict sanitation standards.
- Prepare ingredients by cleaning and chopping vegetables, and other necessary tasks.
- Maintain accurate kitchen stock levels, informing the head chef of any shortages.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after use.
- Prepare dishes under the supervision of the head chef, demonstrating proficiency in a variety of culinary techniques.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggestions to the head chef on new menu items and preparations.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the menu, capable of preparing every dish with accuracy and efficiency.
- Act as a backup for absent chefs.
- Assist in the design and aesthetic of the restaurant interior, as needed.
- Support the head chef in training new kitchen staff.
- Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate records of restaurant accounts, as directed by the head chef.
- Report any kitchen mishaps or incidents immediately.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and standards, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Regularly check and maintain the condition of safety equipment.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma is required.
- Completion of a food handling course is mandatory.
- Additional food-related courses are beneficial.
Position Responsibilities:
- Order supplies, food, and ingredients based on fluctuating demand.
- Adhere to established food cost guidelines.
- Hire, train, and cross-train kitchen staff, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Develop and maintain efficient staff schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and conduct weekly inventory counts.
- Schedule and oversee necessary kitchen appliance maintenance and repairs.
- Manage menu changes and adaptations based on seasonal availability.
- Provide prompt and courteous responses to guest inquiries and complaints.
