The FiveStar Lifestyles Cook works with the Culinary Team in preparing food to be served to members and guests in an accurate and timely manner, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with the preparation and service of menu items including pantry items, salads, soups, sauces, and pre-preparation of ingredients for entrees.
- Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that the excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
- Cook food to order in a timely manner, including grilling, sautéing, baking, and blanching while keeping ticket orders down.
- Correctly prepare and cook all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders.
- Complete food temperature checks before service.
- Assist with banquet preparation, cooking, and service.
- Collaborate with both the Culinary Team and Service Team to ensure service to guests is perfect.
- Prepare daily orders and organize components of food needed for preparation for assigned areas.
- Ensure that supplies, food, and approved substitutions are available in time for service.
- Follow the organized preparation list to accomplish tasks within time restraints and limits prior to service.
- Correctly prepare all food served following standardized recipes made by Chefs and the FiveStar Lifestyles Leadership Team.
- Complete the rotation of food items and daily dating of prepared food to ensure the freshest product is served to guests.
- Follow all established food production programs and procedures.
- Practice and observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
- Clean all kitchen equipment by sanitizing all surfaces, sweeping, and scrubbing the floors and walls.
- Keep all kitchen work areas clean and organized at all times.
- Comply with established sanitation standards, including personal hygiene and health standards.
- Represent FiveStar Lifestyles in a professional manner at all times.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
