COOK - Full-Time & Part-Time Positions

Chartwells K12 is immediately hiring COOKS for full-time and part-time positions in Peekskill, NY. The location is 1072 Elm Street, Peekskill, NY 10566. Only online applications will be accepted.

Schedule: Full-time and part-time schedules are available, Monday through Friday, with varying hours. More details will be provided during the interview process.

Requirements: Previous culinary experience is required.

Pay Range: $18.00 to $19.00 per hour. Internal Employee Referral Bonus Available.

Job Summary: Prepares food according to federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations, and established policies and procedures. Ensures high-quality food service at all times.

  • Prepares high-quality food items per standardized recipes.
  • Serves or prepares meals for delivery, ensuring correct portioning, temperature, and presentation.
  • Tastes all prepared food items.
  • Follows established ticket collection procedures.
  • Maintains records for the area worked during service periods.
  • Cleans the kitchen to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Stores or discards excess food following safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized, ensuring proper food and supply storage.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assists in production planning, record-keeping, and reporting.
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies.
  • Reports maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings.
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
  • Performs job safely and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures; adheres to HACCP standards.
  • Maintains personal commitment to the safety of self and others.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Wearing medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning a slicer.
    • Using oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers, or steamtables.
    • Wearing slip-resistant shoes and utilizing proper lifting techniques.
