As a pastry chef at Mandarin Oriental, you will support the company's philosophy and culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences to ensure guest satisfaction and the achievement of our mission statement. You will consult with the Executive Pastry Chef and other chefs to plan menus, demonstrating thorough knowledge of pastry arts and techniques, and apply classic pastry baking techniques when preparing pastries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing daily inspections of dry storage, walk-in refrigerator, and freezers to ensure cleanliness and proper storage of pastry items.
  • Operating and using pastry equipment safely and effectively.
  • Preparing sauces, batters, dough, garnishes, breads, sweets, pastries, cakes, ice creams, sorbets, fresh fruit jams, chocolates, etc.
  • Executing all pastry orders and accommodating special requests.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with other employees and providing instruction and encouragement as needed.
  • Responding properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Maintaining the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene standards.

We require a minimum of two years in the luxury hotel business and fine dining pastry preparation. You should possess a pleasant and outgoing personality, as well as a good command of the English language.

Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk for 8-12 hours a day, lift or carry weights between 0-100 pounds, and perform tasks in extreme temperature ranges.
