Central Regional Hospital, in Butner, NC is currently recruiting for a Cook. The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and cook balanced, attractive meals and provide nutritional guidance to meet the needs of the patients of Central Regional Hospital. Assigned duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare food items for breakfast, noon, and evening mealtimes, in quantity batches.
  • Ensure safety of foods served.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the production area.
  • Maintain high knowledge of modified diets, posted menus, diet consistencies, and portion control.
  • May interpret diet orders and translate them into modified diet menus and portions.

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal work hours for this position are 4:00am - 12:30pm, including alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. This will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

  • Ability to speak, read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Knowledge of acceptable food handling, food service, safety, and sanitation standards and practices.
  • Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview process, but include ability to perform moderate physical labor; ability to work in repetitive motion, walking long distances, occasional lifting of objects 10 to 35 pounds, standing 1 1/2 hours in the same place, and bending and stooping.
  • Knowledge of the uses and adaptability of the various pieces of equipment including kettles, convection ovens, convection steamers, braising pans, mixer, food processors, slicers, and deep fryers.

Management prefers candidates with the following:

  • ServSafe Certified.
  • High School or GED equivalent.
