Job Description

At Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services, we promote a challenging, but rewarding opportunity in a caring environment. We are currently seeking an experienced cook for full-time evening shifts.

The cook will be responsible for following planned menus and preparing food items for resident and staff meals, as well as special events. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning cooking schedules to have food ready to serve on time.
  • Preparing and cooking food according to tested recipes and established guidelines.
  • Preparing desserts, pastries, breads, and salads.
  • Carving meats in required portions.
  • Preparing food for special diets.
  • Serving food timely and attractively in proper utensils.
  • Cleansing and sanitizing pots, pans, and service ware according to established procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean department at all times.
  • Assisting with other dietary requirements as assigned.

In the absence of the Dietary Director, the cook will assume responsibility for the dietary department and will be in charge of staff. If inadequate staff is available, the cook will assume responsibility for finding replacements and will work an assignment if replacement staff cannot be found.

Job requirements include being 18 years of age or older, having a High School Diploma or equivalent, and the ability to use equipment safely. The cook must demonstrate a neat appearance and good personal hygiene, and must read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies.
