This PRN - Per Diem position requires performing various hospital food service duties related to preparation and cooking. Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, plating, and/or serving food in bulk or individual portions for patients and other customers following standard practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Formal Education Required: Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions, perform basic mathematical functions, and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience and Training Required: One (1) year of cooking and food preparation experience.
  • Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: Ability to be active and on feet most of the day, lift, push and pull medium weight objects; occasionally push and pull heavy weight objects. Ability to withstand hot and/or humid, cold and/or icy temperatures due to heat and cold producing equipment. Ability to prepare and assemble food. Must possess knowledge of and be in compliance with local, state, and federal food handling regulations. Ability to provide necessary care for patients (i.e., neonate/newborns, children, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged adults, geriatric adults) as required by position.
  • Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
  • Level of Physical Demands: Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.

Pay range: $19.04/hr - $22.85/hr. The salary range on this job posting is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location, are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
