Performs all functions related to proper food preparation and maintenance of the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars. Ensures food quality and presentation and performs duties related to stocking and sanitation. Responsibilities include preparing food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets, ensuring all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated. You will monitor food levels and replenish them in a timely manner. Arriving at the work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; working all scheduled shifts and attending required trainings and meetings are essential. You will provide excellent customer service, addressing the needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques; answering phones and pages promptly and courteously. This role maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product. You will follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. Maintaining, or ensuring the maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, and ensuring walk-ins and freezers are clean and organized are also part of your duties.
Additional responsibilities include performing opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing, and immediately reporting safety hazards and violations. You may perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities required include a thorough product knowledge, ability to follow a recipe, good understanding of food production and fundamental cooking techniques, good basic math skills, and strong to excellent communication skills with a willingness to work as part of a team. You must have the ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors, meet customer service expectations, follow directions and procedures with effective time management and organization skills, and possess a passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market. A strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, as well as understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals, are also essential.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, standing/walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day, and hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling. The work requires motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching, with exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. You must have the ability to work in wet and dry conditions, use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery, and may require the use of ladders.
