The Dietary Cook is responsible for determining types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and ensuring timely preparation. You will assist in the establishment and maintenance of perpetual supplies inventory, and notify the Dietary Supervisor of shortages or discrepancies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Consulting with the Dietary Supervisor regarding the use of left-overs.
  • Supervising dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food.
  • Training and orienting newly hired dietary staff.
  • Measuring and mixing ingredients according to approved recipes.
  • Cooking meat, fish, and fowl in a variety of ways such as baking, roasting, and steaming.
  • Testing food temperatures and preparing special nourishment as instructed.
  • Observing infection prevention and control practices.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Performing all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes safety.
