The essential functions of a Dietary Cook include:

  • Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus.
  • Determine the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit order to Dietary Supervisor.
  • Assist in establishment and maintenance of perpetual supplies inventory.
  • Consult with Dietary Supervisor regarding use of left-overs.
  • Supervise dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to approved recipes.
  • Cook meat, fish, and fowl in a variety of ways such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming.
  • Test food temperatures.
  • Prepare special nourishment and supplements as instructed by Dietary Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Perform all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

The qualifications of a Dietary Cook include:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency is preferred.
  • 1 year of experience is preferred.
  • Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
