The essential functions of the Dietary Cook include:

  • Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus.
  • Submit orders to the Dietary Supervisor based on the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of perpetual supplies inventory.
  • Consult with the Dietary Supervisor regarding the use of leftovers.
  • Supervise dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to approved recipes.
  • Cook meat, fish, and fowl in a variety of ways.
  • Test food temperatures and prepare special nourishment as instructed by the Dietary Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen while observing infection prevention and control practices.
  • Perform all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes safety.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

The qualifications of the Dietary Cook include:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency preferred.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
  • Open Communication and Professionalism.
  • Ethical Practice and Relationship Management.
  • Always maintaining confidentiality.
