Cook - Avalon Care Center Scappoose

Avalon Care Center Scappoose is seeking a dependable, enthusiastic, and dedicated Cook to join our outstanding team! We are looking for a passionate individual to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for our residents, ensuring compliance with all dietary and safety regulations.

Compensation: $17.00 - $19.50 /hr

Schedule:

• Full-Time: Mon-Fri
• Day Shift: 6:30 AM - 1:00 PM (Mon-Thurs)
• Evening Shift: 1:30 PM - 7:30 PM (Sun-Thurs)

About the Role:

The Cook is responsible for preparing food according to resident diet specifications, facility procedures, and dietary and sanitary regulations. This role requires adhering to precise recipes, portion sizes, and temperature controls, and proactively ensuring compliance with all food safety guidelines. You will work under the supervision of the Dietary Services Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

• Preparing and serving meals according to menus, diet plans, and recipes.
• Maintaining proper food temperatures and portion control.
• Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, dishes, and utensils.
• Verifying meal trays for accuracy and adherence to diet restrictions.
• Ensuring proper food and supply storage.
• Adhering to universal precautions and facility safety policies.
• Working in a non-temperature controlled environment (near ovens, stoves, refrigerators/freezers).
• Maintaining adequate food and supply levels for upcoming meals.
• Assisting in inventorying incoming foods and supplies.
• Reporting hazardous conditions, equipment issues, accidents, and incidents.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Food Handler’s permit/ServSafe certification (as required by state).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills (ability to effectively communicate in English).
• Ability to relate positively to residents, families, and colleagues.
• Successful completion of a criminal background investigation and reference checks.

Placement in the wage range is determined by years of experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions.
