Job Responsibilities

The Cook is responsible for meal preparation, delivery, and maintaining a clean environment in accordance with health regulations. This position is critical in fostering a positive social and physical environment for our residents.

  • Prepare and cook meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director, ensuring nutritional value, appeal, and attractive presentation.
  • Assist the Dining Services Director with orientation and scheduling of new team members.
  • Greet elders, families, visitors, and team members, fostering a friendly and positive atmosphere.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Adhere to all procedures related to infection control and food safety.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Formal training in the culinary arts, or equivalent experience as a cook.
  • A willingness to learn and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Possession of a valid food handlers permit, or the ability to obtain one as required by state regulations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers.
  • The ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • The ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
