Cook - RICC

Oak View Group is the global leader in venue development, management, and premium hospitality services for the live event industry. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team at the RICC.

The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items using cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Portion control, food waste, and sanitation are critical responsibilities for the Cook.

This position offers an hourly wage of $19.50 - $24.00, plus tips.

This is an evergreen role; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with no application deadline.

About the Venue

Conveniently located in downtown Providence, the RICC is within walking distance of restaurants, hotels, shops, art galleries, night clubs, museums, and more. We boast 100,000 square feet of exhibition space, 20,000 square feet of ballroom space, 23 meeting rooms, and 30,000 square feet of pre-function space.

Responsibilities

  • Cooking and packaging food products prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  • Receiving verbal orders from front-counter staff for guest food orders.
  • Maintaining quality and production standards for all menu items, ensuring freshness and high quality.
  • Controlling portions and maintaining serving temperatures for all concession stand items.
  • Cleaning, stocking, and restocking workstations and displays.
  • Operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and ovens.
  • Ensuring all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are stored properly, utensils are clean and put away, and the floor is swept and mopped at the end of each shift.
  • Obtaining a check-out from the Floor Supervisor before ending the shift to ensure concession stand cleanliness standards are met.
  • Maintaining sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Demonstrating consistent attendance to meet company standards.

Qualifications

  • The ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • (If required by state and federal regulations) Possession of a valid food handling certificate.
