Position Summary
As a Cook at HCSG, you will prepare and serve a variety of food items, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, according to facility menus and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. You will ensure high-quality dining services and follow all established policies and procedures. You will assist in maintaining proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, you will support the Dietary Aide as needed and supervise other employees with approval.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve food items, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and regulations.
- Maintain proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.
- Assist with the Dietary Aide and supervise other employees, as needed and approved.
- Utilize appropriate protective gear for all functions.
- Safely mix and use cleaning solutions, adhering to all safety precautions.
- Report equipment/cleaning product needs or malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Ensure adherence to established safety, quality, and sanitation guidelines.
- Comply with infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures.
- Follow proper reporting, isolation, and handwashing procedures.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctual arrival.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks according to schedule.
- Respond to the paging system promptly and appropriately.
- Represent HCSG positively through courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.
- Provide positive and pleasant interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in food preparation preferred.
- Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification required, based on state/county law.
- Ability to be at work as scheduled and on time.
- Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies, as required by state, local, and/or customers.
- Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks continuously.
- Ability to work around food and cleaning products.
- Must live in the service area.
