Job Description

As a Bakery Decorator, you'll be responsible for all duties related to creating and decorating cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items. You'll use your artistic talents to build and finish all specialty bakery goods, ensuring that every detail is just right. You will play a critical role in upholding our differentiators by providing outstanding service and delicious treats to our customers that meet our quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assembling, filling, and finishing/decorating cakes, tarts, and special-order bakery items.
  • Building, icing, and decorating cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures to meet business demand.
  • Completing production and spoilage records according to standard procedures.
  • Prioritizing production lists and recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Merchandising and showcasing products in the sales display case.
  • Monitoring product quality for freshness and ensuring proper product rotation.
  • Providing guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other Team Members.
  • Creating special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
  • Providing excellent customer service and addressing customers' needs in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment; maintaining equipment according to cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Performing opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Experience: Minimum of 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience. Completion of the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program or equivalent experience is required. Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail is preferred.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday. The role requires various motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. There may be exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. A flexible schedule is necessary.
