Job Description

This position requires a candidate to complete and maintain all job performance requirements and standards as established by department-specific procedures. The individual will consistently follow production guides, menu assembly, and prepare food, supplies, and equipment for daily preparation of salads, sandwiches, and cooked menu items.

The role supports teamwork and cooperation with co-workers in daily activities, providing constructive feedback regarding system failures and participating in their resolution. Positive and courteous interaction with all customers (patients, visitors, vendors, and co-workers in other departments) is essential through direct interaction, telephone conversations, or written materials.

The candidate must perform responsibilities with adaptability to fluctuating workload by effectively prioritizing patient care needs. This includes detecting and reporting spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies, or unusual conditions, and following procedures for sanitation of the work area and equipment during food production. Cleaning and sanitizing the work area and equipment at the end of the shift is also required.

Consistent completion of responsibilities and assignments in a timely manner is expected, successfully meeting goals established in previous performance appraisals. The individual must maintain all standards as required in the department and the Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual, label and date food appropriately for sale or storage, and check equipment to ensure proper working order while reporting all safety hazards. Maintaining required records, such as temperature records, is also part of the job.

The minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, with at least one (1) year of cooking experience required, preferably in a high-volume environment. Knowledge of standard cooking and sanitation methods and procedures is crucial, along with the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
