Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Pastry Chef to join our team at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. This position is essential in exhibiting creative baking and decorating talents while leading the staff in preparing quality and consistent pastries for all areas. The successful candidate will work to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget.

The role requires leading the pastry culinary team, utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to influence and encourage others. You will advocate sound financial decision-making, demonstrate honesty and integrity, and lead by example. Responsibilities include supervising and managing employees, ensuring productivity levels are maintained, and establishing open relationships among team members.

In addition, you will ensure culinary standards and responsibilities are met by developing new applications, recognizing superior quality products, and maintaining food preparation and storage standards. You will support procedures for food and beverage portion control and waste management, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Your commitment to exceptional customer service will be crucial, as you manage day-to-day operations to meet customer expectations. You will strive for continuous improvement in service performance, empowering employees to provide excellent customer service.

Maintaining culinary goals is key, as you will achieve and exceed performance, budget, and team goals. You will develop specific plans to prioritize and organize work, train employees in safety procedures, and manage inventories according to budget.

Supporting training and development activities is also part of the role, ensuring disciplinary procedures are completed according to Standard Operating Procedures. You will participate in training staff on menu items, assist in interviewing and hiring new team members, and review staffing levels to meet operational needs.
