We are seeking a positive and compassionate Cook to join our team at Beehive Homes. This full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide exceptional care for our residents. The shift is 7:00am-2:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills in interactions with employees, residents, families, visitors, and coworkers, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance and improvement activities, focusing on Quality, Service, Friendliness, and Cleanliness.
  • Uphold and embody the facility's core values: compassion, positivity, respectful communication, responsibility, trust, community, safety, respect, teamwork, partnership, service, integrity, efficiency, and financial responsibility.
  • Provide written and oral communication to the Manager of Bee Hive Homes, acting as an advisor on all food service issues.
  • Make informative and decisive decisions, promptly communicating any major changes or menu updates to staff.
  • Communicate accurate information to ensure optimal resident nutrition.
  • Supervise the overall dietary and food service performance of the facility.
  • Ensure adherence to safe food handling standards and objectives.
  • Apply problem-solving and conflict resolution skills as needed.
  • Work collaboratively to foster a positive and supportive group culture at Bee Hive Homes.

Duties

  • Dietary: Prepare nutritious and appealing meals on a consistent schedule, adhering to menus, approved recipes, special diets, and serving needs. Maintain sanitary conditions for food, preparation, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Serve food according to dietary guidelines, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review residents' diet information and care plans, communicating with residents, families, and care attendants as needed to adjust meals.
  • Monitor portion control for individual residents.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory, adhering to state licensure bureau requirements and budget parameters.
  • Stock and store food items according to state licensure guidelines.
  • Retrieve and sanitize dishes and utensils after meals.
  • Complete substitution logs, as applicable.
  • Post weekly menus.
  • Regulatory and Legal: Ensure compliance with safe food handling, infection control, risk management (death, dying, aging), fire safety, disaster preparedness, residents' rights, and grievance procedures. Report any deficiencies to the Manager.
  • Assist with state surveys or in-house inspections.
  • Facility Management: Maintain optimal cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dining room, and equipment. Monitor and maintain food/supply inventory.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Required: certification from a physician, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional to verify no communicable diseases, open skin lesions, or other health problems that could interfere with job performance. No felony convictions or federal fraud convictions. Background check (BCI) required. First aid certification. CPR certification. TB test. Food handler permit. Must be 18 years of age.
  • Experience: One year of experience in the food service field preferred.
