Sous Chef

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at the bioMerieux location in Salt Lake City.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensuring all food is produced to high quality, in a timely and consistent manner, meeting all menu and customer standards.
- Developing rapport with customers while upholding Thomas Cuisine's values and mission.
- Providing leadership and motivation to team members (some supervisory experience required).
- Setting up and stocking the sandwich/sliced food station with all necessary supplies.
- Properly handling, storing, and rotating all products in the station or walk-in cooler.
- Preparing menu items in cooperation with the kitchen staff.
- Following proper cooking techniques and presenting dishes with care.
- Adhering to all food handling and storage procedures, complying with company and state regulations.
- Maintaining a positive, respectful, and professional demeanor with customers and team members.
- Reporting all unsafe working conditions, operational needs, and equipment issues to management.
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift, as needed.
- Ability to interact with and respond to questions from managers, clients, team members, and guests.
- ServSafe® Certification and valid State Food Handlers Card.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen, in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations.
- Ability to provide required work authorization documents. We utilize E-Verify.
- High School Diploma/GED
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk extensively throughout the shift.
- Lifting boxes up to 25 pounds.
- Pushing/pulling food hot boxes up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, stooping, and reaching for carts, food, trays, and kitchen equipment.
- Manual dexterity for using kitchen tools and utensils.
- Visual acuity for reading menus, labels, and directions.
- Hearing ability for responding to verbal communications.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Taste and smell to assess food quality, freshness, and dietary requirements.
- Ability to distinguish colors for food presentation.
Location: bioMerieux 1001 South 4800 West, Salt Lake City
Schedule: Monday-Wednesday 6am-2:30pm, Saturday & Sunday 7am-3:30pm
Wage Range: $17/hour plus shift premium for weekends
