The Seasonal Line Cook is a self-motivated team player who plays a crucial role in Stratton Mountain Resort's culinary program. This full-time seasonal position requires consistent production of high-quality dishes in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Compensation is $21-$23 per hour, based on experience.
Essential Duties
- Maintain and ensure food production meets recipe standards and product specifications.
- Operate multiple food stations, including the pantry, flat top/stove, deep fryers, pizza oven, and more.
- Expedite orders as needed for optimal efficiency.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor to foster effective teamwork.
- Adhere to all resort safety and food sanitation procedures and proficiently follow standard operating procedures.
- Adhere to the schedule provided by the manager and communicate any changes professionally and clearly.
- Properly prepare, hold, and serve hot and cold items.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is clean and well-maintained, and report any issues immediately to the Manager or Executive Chef.
- Support Outlet Chefs in accurate end-of-month inventory counts.
- Actively participate in and complete all assigned trainings (both in-person and online) within deadlines.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager with enthusiasm.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Culinary internship preferred
- 2 years of experience in a high-volume food and beverage environment
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to take initiative and seek additional responsibilities during slower periods.
- Exceptional communication skills
- Excellent personal grooming standards
- Knowledge of Vermont Health codes
- Food Allergen Safety Certification (Stratton can provide upon hire if required)
- Valid Driver's License
Work Environment
- This position requires flexibility to work in various locations on the resort.
- Work involves evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts or longer.
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures.
- Most work is performed indoors.
- Temperature is not fully climate controlled and noise level is typically moderate.
- Requires prolonged standing and mobility for up to 8 hours.
- Regularly requires standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, bending, climbing/balancing, tasting/smelling, and talking/hearing.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, and toxic/caustic chemicals.
- Constant communication with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
- Constant use of vision, primarily close-range and depth perception.
- Requires personal protective equipment, including non-slip footwear and gloves.
