Job Description

This position requires flexibility as hours of work will vary based on program needs, including split days off, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check, and any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. The salary will be sent to a financial institution of your choice via Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

Applicants must demonstrate experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) relevant to this position. A working knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation in small quantities is necessary, along with the skill to apply this knowledge to cook a limited variety of prepared foods. Candidates should be able to read and understand written food service materials such as food labels and standardized recipes, and perform basic arithmetic computations for recipes.

Additionally, candidates must possess knowledge of the characteristics of various foods, including color, flavor, consistency, texture, and temperature. Skills in planning, coordinating, and timing the preparation of menu items are essential. Knowledge of sanitation principles is also required.

Physical requirements include continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, bending, and lifting or moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. Work conditions include warm and noisy kitchens, exposure to steam, fumes, and the potential for burns and cuts.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement, and salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions may have special requirements.

Selected candidates may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within 60 days of issuance of the selection certificate.
