Job Description

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg, a 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community in Central VA, is seeking a Cook II to join our team! This is a full-time position available with a complete benefits package.

As a Cook II, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food requiring both short and broader preparation time. Your duties will include:

  • Completing food preparation tasks.
  • Receiving inventory and moving foodstuffs and supplies.
  • Ensuring high customer/resident satisfaction.
  • Ensuring compliance with all state and federal requirements for the department.

You will prepare and cook to order foods, which may include:

  • Producing food and serving customers at an a la carte station.
  • Operating a grill station.

Your role will also involve:

  • Preparing food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards.
  • Reading food orders or receiving verbal instructions on food required by customers.
  • Following basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving.
  • Using a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients.
  • Tasting products, reading menus, estimating food requirements, checking production, and keeping records.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work stations and equipment.

  • Minimum of two years restaurant cooking experience (3 to 4 years preferred).
  • Serve Safe certificate (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
  • Knowledge of food handling and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of HACCP preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well with all types of individuals.
