Job Description

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg, a 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community in Central VA, is seeking a Cook II to join our team! This is a full-time position available with a complete benefits package.

As a Cook II, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and cooking food requiring short and broader preparation time.
  • Completing food preparation duties, receiving inventory, and moving and lifting foodstuffs and supplies.
  • Ensuring high customer/resident satisfaction.
  • Ensuring compliance with all state and federal requirements for the department.
  • Producing food and serving customers at an a la carte station and may operate a grill station.
  • Preparing food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Reading food orders or receiving verbal instructions on food required by customers.
  • Following basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving various food items.
  • Operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, as well as washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding fruits and vegetables.
  • Tasting products, reading menus, estimating food requirements, checking production, and keeping records to accurately plan production requirements.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work stations and equipment while following all Westminster Canterbury, client, and regulatory rules and procedures.

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Minimum of two years (3 to 4 years preferred) restaurant cooking experience.
  • Serve Safe certificate required or must be willing to obtain within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of food handling and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of HACCP preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well with all types of individuals.
