Job Description

Occasions Caterers is a full service catering firm located in Washington DC and has built its premier reputation for flawless execution of elegant events since 1986. The Occasions’ team works closely with our clients to design, customize, and create remarkable events.

We have grown in size but maintain a boutique approach with a focus on custom menus, creative décor, expert planning, and gracious service. We craft experiences through food, design, and hospitality to reflect our clients' unique style, taste, and vision.

Working as an Executive Pastry Chef, you are responsible for the preparation, production, and ordering for the pastry department. You will handle, prepare, and store perishable products, adhering to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe, and sanitary food production, preparation, and presentation. Additional duties may include menu development, inventory, ordering, sanitation, and hourly associate management, which includes hiring, counseling, coaching, and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, produces, and orders for the pastry department.
  • High volume pastry production for large off premise events.
  • Oversee pastry department.
  • Menu innovation.
  • Handles, prepares, and stores perishable products.
  • Adheres to HACCP guidelines for efficient, safe, and sanitary food production.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years related experience in upscale, high volume hotel and/or catering operations.
  • Ability to demonstrate creative and quality driven pastry skills.
  • Good food knowledge and recognition of quality product.
  • Strong knowledge of current food and catering trends focused on using seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development, and presentation.
  • Excellent overall computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus.
