As a member of the culinary team, you will supervise activities of and direct training of cooks and other kitchen workers engaged in preparing and cooking foods to ensure an efficient and profitable food service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing cooks in their department and supporting the Executive Chef in overall direction and coordination.
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

You will also observe workers engaged in preparing, portioning, and garnishing foods to ensure compliance with methods of cooking and portion sizes. Planning menus and utilization of food surpluses, ensuring compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements, and testing cooked foods by tasting and smelling them are also key responsibilities.

In addition, you will review menus, analyze recipes, and determine food, labor, and overhead costs. Familiarizing newly hired Cooks with practices of the kitchen and overseeing their training is essential.

To maintain a clean and safe work environment, you will establish and enforce nutrition, sanitation, safety, and merchandising standards while resolving customer concerns.

Qualified candidates must possess a valid Food Handler's Permit and current ServSafe Certification, adhering to all HACCP policies and procedures. You will manage daily and monthly food safety trainings while ensuring compliance with company food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation, and safety.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of labor scheduling.
  • Ability to manage purchase compliance as required.
