We are seeking a kitchen staff member to perform a variety of tasks such as grilling, frying, baking, and preparing a variety of foods including grill items like hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon, eggs, and sausage. You will be responsible for monitoring cooking items, turning as required, regulating temperature, and removing items when done.
Your duties will include measuring and weighing ingredients according to recipes, preparing main meal side dishes such as starches, vegetables, and grains, and creating salads, desserts, juices, and fruit trays. You will also prepare toasts, salads, salad dressings, and sandwiches, as well as fresh vegetables and fruits for serving according to instructions or recipes.
In addition, you will place cooked food in serving dishes in steam carts and food service lines, wash and clean kitchen equipment, keep refrigerators and working areas clean, and ensure all food items are FIFO and date tagged. You may be required to collect money, operate a cash register, and assist in inventory taking. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
Conditions of Employment: The incumbent must have or be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate and pass an 18-hour food managers safety course. Moderate physical effort is required in moving or lifting objects up to 50 lbs, with heavy lifting sometimes involved. The incumbent will be constantly standing, bending, stooping, and reaching, and is expected to work in hot, moderate, to cold conditions. Flexible scheduling is a must.
Qualifications: Candidates must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for various food items, possess the skill to perform tasks with several steps, and have knowledge of common sanitation procedures. Additionally, candidates must know how to operate baking and holding ovens, relate inventory levels to purchasing requirements, and understand food storage and sanitation requirements.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Information: Some positions may have special requirements, and the selectee may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
